BK proudly presents: A different kind of catalog!

BK’s 2013 campaign was produced with a different, special mindset. We were inspired to contribute to the community and connect with exceptional women and girls valiantly battling cancer.

Our production enjoyed enthusiastic media coverage as well as elicited moving responses from the girls themselves.

Here’s the scoop on our exciting campaign, along with a sneak peek behind the scenes.

We often feel like all of our femininity, personality and entire sense of self are embodied in one essential aspect of ourselves: our hair. This is why it is so difficult for us when we put on a wig that isn’t natural looking or is styled in a way that seems out of character for us. We feel as if it completely transforms us in the deepest possible sense, when all we ever wanted was just to be ourselves.

BK Wigs embarked on our special Zichron Menachem project with idealism and emotion, driven by a desire to give these sick girls a sense of well being. Our goal was to help them feel like they were still themselves, despite their temporary hair loss, as all of their energy was focused inward to heal.

The idea of supporting the community by using my professional abilities from my unique niche is very moving to me; it just feels right. It’s such an exhilarating feeling to see thees girls smile as they mingle about the room with a sense of confidence that wasn’t there before. You can catch a glimpse of this radiance within the pages of this special catalog.

As part of the process, I chose to indulge three particular girls who are coping bravely with their illness. Nitzan Arad, Gali Winterberger and Ori Gal overcame their hair loss to enjoy hours of modeling these retro styles.

Each set hearkens back to a different decade, beginning in the 20s and up until the 70s. We coupled each retro-fashionable hairstyle with an authentic collector’s car from the same period. The fun was indescribable!

It’s hard to believe that these beautifully radiant models are completely bald underneath their wigs. One can only imagine the struggles they face each day and how this affects their body image. Looking at these pictures, however, it’s easy to see their relaxed composure throughout the production. When the spotlight is on them, these girls really know how to seize the moment, smile and let their natural beauty shine.
